Public Invited to Review and Comment on Long-Range Transportation Plan for Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties

WILKES-BARRE, PA: The Lackawanna-Luzerne Metropolitan Planning Organization (LLTS MPO) is pleased to announce the opening of a 30-day public review and comment period for its Draft Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP). The review period will run from October 15 to November 15, during which residents and interested parties are encouraged to provide feedback on the proposed plan.

The LRTP outlines a proposed regional vision and priorities for transportation investment through the year 2050. It addresses key issues such as roadway improvements, public transit, freight movement, bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, safety, and environmental sustainability. The plan is a critical tool for guiding federal, state, and local transportation funding decisions in Lackawanna and Luzerne counties.

Written comments may also be mailed to Mr. Manzella’s attention at the Luzerne County Department of Planning and Zoning at 200 N River St, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711, or to Mr. Middleton at the Lackawanna County Department of Planning and Economic Development at 123 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton, PA 18503.

The MPO will host a public meeting to present the plan and gather input virtually on Tuesday, October 28 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Recommendations from the plan will be presented, with opportunity for the public to provide comment. All comments received during the review period will be considered prior to finalizing the LRTP. The MPO values public input and encourages community members to take part in shaping the future of transportation in the region.

The MPO is expected to adopt the plan during its January 13, 2026 public meeting.
